The best laid plans of mice and men....April 2nd

As Easter in Spain falls on Thursday and Friday we knew we had to make the first few days count if we wanted to be well in hand with our preparations to begin viewing potential new homes in thee week after Easter.

On Monday despite my still feeling terrible we had to really hit the ground running. We shopped in the shopping centre next to the Husa Gran Fama hotel and got mobile phone sims for both our unlocked mobiles, we visited the supermarket in the centre Al Campo and bought some needed items like a new printer/scanner and other items that might not have been so easy to buy reasonably locally and then set off to drive to Mojacar Playa to pick up the keys and to be shown to our rental apartment in Turre by the letting agent. Once we got to the apartment we had a whirlwind tour after getting all our luggage up into the apartment (the lift wasn't working!), grabbed some needed papers and our passports and headed back to Mojacar Playa for a 1.30pm meeting to go to see a solicitor who was taking us the next day to Almeria to get our NIE numbers sorted out. We were only 8 minutes late for the meeting, hey we were already getting into the Spanish way of life! After that we drove to the nearby town of Vera to two further supermarkets to buy food and groceries so we could eat! By now I was REALLY knackered and feeling like crap! So once we got back to the apartment relaxation was in order but of course that wasn't to be as well as all the shopping to unpack, we had to orient ourselves with where everything was in the apartment then there was the small matter of all the cases we had to unpack too! We made a valiant effort and while the place still needed some final tidying up the day after we were finally able to relax about 7.30pm that evening!
