We stayed in a nicely placed central hotel compared to our last visit in October in 2011. Then we were on the outskirts as we were using it as a base to travel to see possible places to live in the coast nearby. Alicante city is well worth visiting as the pictures below show. A lovely mixture of history in the old town and castle, plus lovely palm tree lined promenade lining the marina and harbour area. There you could find some lovely walking areas with a plethora of bars, cafes and restaurants. Even out of season there was still a lot to see and enjoy in the city. The intermittently slightly wet weather did nothing to deter us and we enjoyed some lovely meals and walks while we were there.

A visit to Alicante 12 - 14th November
Stuart had been wanting to get to go to the opera since we got to Spain. An opportunity arose to go to see Carmen in Alicante on November 13th. It was a touring production playing smaller theatres and had been to Cartagena and had been well received there. As it was an opera I was quite familiar with I said I would go to see it too. It was going to be my first opera so I was curious to see the production.
